Chapter 30

Medon and Uub charged at each other.  Their fists make contact and cause the battle arena to shake.  The crowd of people goers quiet.  They all had expected such power from Medon, the son of the world protector.  They were quite positive that the other boy would not last even one punch.

Boy where they wrong!

Uub opens his fist and grabs Medon’s.  He pulls the younger boy forward and slams his knee into Medon’s stomach.  Medon’s eyes widen.  He didn’t expect the other boy would be so direct.  Medon smirks as he brings his foot down harshly on top of Uub’s.  Uub releases Medon’s arm, only to be bum rushed by Medon.  Medon tramples over the other boy and then flips back into a fighting stance.

Uub flips up off his back and frowns at Medon.  “That was dirty.”

“My father taught me that when it comes to combat, use any means necessary to win.  The artificial human’s would not have fought clean!”

“Do you see any artificial human’s around here,” Uub snorts.  “I sure don’t!”

“Watch your tongue!  I’ll make you eat your words!”

“Bring it,” Uub shouts.

The two once again charge at each other.  Moving faster than the normal eye can see the two attack each other brutally.  Both are on the offensive and also on the defensive.  One cannot make a hit without blocking or taking a hit.   The arena begins to shake and small cracks appear around the two. Small particles of rock and gravel rise up in the air.

“Look at those two go,” Gohan whistles.  “Boy, I’ve never seen two kids fight so!”

“Medon is going to have his work cut out for him,” Videl remarks as she continues to observe the fight.

“Indeed,” Trunks agrees.  “From what I can sense, Uub is slightly stronger.  If Medon was a Super Saiya-jin, he would have a advantage.”

“From the way Uub is fighting, I’d say he has had a lot of experience fighting.  I wonder exactly how much older he is than Medon?”

“Uub eight,” replied a voice from behind them.  The group turns around to be greeted with the sight of Mr. Buu walking up to them.  “Buu train Uub to be warrior!”

“We can tell,” Pan remarks.  “You trained him well.”

They all turn back to continue watching the fight between the two young boys.   The two had taken the fight into the air.  The spectators and the other fighters watch in amazement as the two boys fight for the title of Junior Champion.

Uub phases out of Medon’s sight and appears behind the boy.  He raises his hands and forms them into fists, then striking Medon in the back.  Medon falls down toward the grass below outside the area. If he is to hit the ground, that would signal the end of the match declaring Uub as the automatic winner.

Medon stops himself several inches from the ground.  He lowers his hands toward the Earth and releases his chi, using it as proportion to blast him back up in the sky.  Pan and Trunks release the breath that they were holding in.  They were sure that the match was over then and there.  Medon may have the best training over the years, from Pan, Trunks, Gohan, Videl and even Piccolo, but Uub still has the slight advantage for he inherited all of the fighting skill and power from his former carnation; Majin Buu.

Medon manages to catch Uub off guard thanks to the technique he used to save himself from disqualification.  Medon slams his head and shoulders into Uub’s stomach, knocking the air out of the brown skinned boy.

Medon flips Uub over and drops him. Uub falls and lands in the middle of the arena.  Medon smirks as he lowers himself down to the arena. He then crosses his arms.

“He reminds me so much of your,” Gohan remarks, glancing at Trunks briefly.

“He sure fights like him,” Trunks grins, crossing his arms in front of his chest.  Pan digs into her popcorn bucket and tosses several of the buttery delights into her mouth.  She then lifts her hand and feeds Trunks the rest in her palm.

Back in the arena Uub stands, clutching his stomach.  He glares at Medon.  “That was pretty good.”

“Everything I do is good,” Medon smirks.  Yep.  Too much like his grandfather.

Uub raises his hands in front of him.  “Well then, let’s see how you handle this!”  Uub jerks his arms back to his side and screams.  His energy rises dramatically and the arena begins to crack more.  Faster than the eye could see, he thrust his arms forward and fires an invisible energy blast.  It strikes Medon in the chest and tosses the boy the floor.

Medon grabs his chest in pain and rolls onto his side.  He smacks his right fist into the ground in frustration.  After pushing himself up he drops back into a fighting stance.  “So you want to play like that hu?  I know chi attacks too!”

Medon cups his palms together and points them at Uub.  He summons his energy into his palms and slowly gathers it.  Uub repeats his motion, gathering energy as well to fire.

“Think we should stop this,” Videl asks Gohan, tugging slightly on the end of her braided ponytail.  “It may get out of hand.”

“Don’t worry,” Gohan remarks as he drapes his arm around his wife’s shoulder.  “Those two know what they are doing.  They are totally in control.”

“Kamehameha,” Medon screams as he unleashes his chi attack.  It flies head on toward Uub.

Uub waits until the beam is right up on him to fire back.  The two energy beams strike each other and begin to push back and forth to the other.  The area between the two boys begins to disintegrate thanks to the incredible heat generated from their energy.

The crowd watches amazed.  Many of the adult fighters thank the being that watches over the Earth that those two boys were not allowed to compete in the adult matches.  For none of them would have won.

Trunks rises from his seat, excitement coursing through his body.  Pan and Gohan follow suit, both fascinated with the chi attack show that was brought before them.  Videl clutches the seat in front of her.  It is not that she is afraid, but rather nervous. She had fought the artificial humans several times before and was attacked with chi attacks from them many times.  Since then she as always was nervous around chi displays.  Mr. Buu watches with minimum interest in the fight.  He is filling his stomach with many sweet treats he had bought while in the food court.

The two boys increase their energy, hopping to blow the other out of the ring or knock the other unconscious.  The light from the attacks increase so brightly that the two fighters cannot be seen inside the ring.  A loud boom singles that the fight is over, that as a small form goes flying out of the ring and into the side of the stadium and then falls onto the grass outside the arena.

Uub drops to his knees exhausted.  “Took everything I had… and then some…”

Medon pulls himself of off the ground.  He coughs several times before falling back on his rump. He rubs his eyes, doing his best to prevent himself from crying.  He mutters beneath his breath.  “I lost…”

“Oh my poor baby,” Pan gasps as she spots Medon lying against the wall.  She leaps over the side of the stadium from where she and the others were sitting and trots over to her son.

“And the winner of the Junior Budoukai is Uub,” the announcer yells over the microphone.  “I must say this is one of the best matches I have seen since the match between the demon-king Piccolo and Son Goku well over 30 years ago!  Let’s give a hand for both of the boys for they gave us quit a show!”

The entire stadium is in an uproar, cheering for both boys.  Trunks gets out of his seat and hovers over to where Pan and Medon are at while the announce goes over to Uub and awards him the prize money.  Trunks drops down to one knee and place a comforting hand on his sons’ shoulder.  “You did good son.  Your mom and I are both proud.”

“Even though I lost,” Medon croaks, rubbing his eyes.

“There, there,” Pan replies softly and assuring as she rubs her sons back.  “It was only a match.  And don’t think of it as a loss.  Think of it as a chance to improve on what you already know.”

“Your right,” Medon smiles as he jumps to his feet.  “I’ll train twice as hard!”

Uub floats off of the damaged arena as the announcer tells the crowd that a short break is in cession while the adult fighters prepare for their matches.  Uub lands several feet from the three.  He scuffs his foot in the dirt and places his hands behind his back.  The prize money is draped around his neck in a pouch.

“I… I was wondering…” Uub begins, looking at Medon.  “If you wanted to be my sparring partner?  I don’t have that many friends and I thought that it would be cool if I had someone near my own strength to… you know… play with and all…”

“Yeah,” Medon cheers as he pulls away from his mother.  “That’ll be so cool!  That attack you did with the invisible chi blast?  That was so cool!”

“Really,” Uub replies, his face glowing.  “That attack you did was amazing too!  The… what was it called?”

“The Kamehameha,” Medon explains.  “Wow, this is so cool!  I got a new friend and a sparring partner all on one day!  To cool!”

“Uub,” Buu calls as he and Uub’s parents walk up to the group.  Also walking with them is Gohan and Videl.  “Buu proud of Uub!  Uub fought well!”

“Mom!  Dad,” Uub squeals.  “Medon’s gonna be my new friend!  Is that cool or what?”

“That’s nice dear,” Uub’s mother replies as she bends over to hug her son.  “Congratulations!”

“It’s nice to meet you Mr. Briefs,” the tall African man replies.  “We met once before.  You saved me once from the artificial humans.”

Trunks shakes the man's hand.  “The pleasure is all mine, Mr.?"

Coco,” the man answers.  “And this is my wife Candy.”

Trunks and Pan glance at each other.  How quite fitting that the reincarnation of Majin Buu be born into a family named after sweets?

Coco and Candy live in the Islands off the coast of South Island,” Videl begins to explain. She had spoken with Uub’s parents immediately after it was declared that Uub was the winner. After all, she was the one to sign the check that the winner would get.  And since Uub is a minor, the money of course when to his parents for safe keeping.  It was their idea to compete in the Budoukai Tournament to hopefully win money.  The islands is not a very industrialized place, even before the artificial human’s attack.  “I’ve offered them both jobs at Capsule Corp.’s.”

“Sounds great,” Trunks replies with a smile.  “Seeing on how well our kids get along, I guess we can welcome you two to out little group.”

“We’d like that very much,” Candy replies with a smile, holding Uub by the hand.

“Your’ welcome to move back in with us Buu,” Gohan replies.  “After all, you are practically family.”

“Actually you all are welcomed to move in with us until you can get settled in West Capital,” Videl adds.  “I’m sure that the boys would like that.  They would be able to spar and play and such.”

“Yeah,” Medon and Uub cheer.

“We wouldn’t want to impose,” Coco replies.

“Don’t worry about it,” Trunks remarks, shaking his head.  “Capsule Corp is large.  We have plenty of room.”

Buu begins to sob loudly.  “Buu so happy!  Buu have large family now!”

Everyone laughs at Buu’s action.  And so it had passed, Uub and his family moved to West Capital shortly after the Budoukai Tournament.  After saving enough money from their jobs at Capsule Corp, they bought quite a large house not far from Capsule.  Medon and Uub became fast friends, and stayed best friends their entire childhood and are still to this day.  The two went to school and were in the same classes, despite the fact that Uub was only slightly a little older.

Trunks and Gohan helped Mr. Buu train Uub in the style that they trained Medon in.  In no time the two boys were quite stronger than they were at the Budoukai.  Chichi became good friends with Candy.  The two women shared many of the same interests and hit it off immediately.

Trunks and Pan had another child several years later.  A small girl they named Rice. As Rice got older, she began to look more like her grandmother Videl. She had long black hair with lavender highlights.  Uub and Rice would eventually fall in love and get married many years later.  Medon married a fellow classmate of Uub and his named Lace.

Aside from the small matter of being summoned to help fight a creature named VOID in the alternate dimension he helped create, Trunks never had to seriously fight another villain or battle in his life time.  The only times he ever fought was when he was sparring with either his wife Pan or Medon and Uub.

After passing down the Presidency to her grandson, Videl and Gohan lived their retirement years in peace without any worry.  Trunks gave his position as Vice-President to Rice when she came of age to run in that position.  Uub worked alongside both Medon and Rice.

Chichi lived to be in her late eighties before finally passing on to the Otherside to be with Goku and her second son Goten.  Trunks, Pan and Gohan would not have to worry about old-age for a long, long time thanks to their Saiya-jin genes.  The same goes for Videl. Thanks to the Dragon Balls, she ages like a Saiya-jin.

The world would remain at peace for many years to come.  And if any threat should rise and threaten the inhabitants of Earth, they would have to deal with the last remaining Saiya-jin’s and their family.

The End
